Last week Sunday, I went to 上海世贸展馆 and attended Comicup 5!

Tickets were pretty cheap. They were 15 RMB, which would be about $2 in America.

Yeah, living in China is pretty awesome sometimes. But then again, there wasn't a single licensed manga in sight, it was all doujinshi there... But then again, licensed manga isn't as awesome as doujinshi sometimes. ANYWAYS!

So the day started out with me getting up at around 8:30 to prepare to take the subway to 娄山关路. I woke up all early and left at... 9:30! Yeah, FML. The thing with Chinese doujinshi conventions is that you have to get there at least an hour early to avoid the lines. So, I got to 上海世贸展馆 at about 10:00 am, which was just when the convention was starting. Guess what? I had to wait 40 minutes out in the cold for tickets!

But it was all (sort of) worth it when I got in and got access to all the yaoi-y goodness! The center was packed with people, and it had a distinctly... well, sweaty smell that permeated every pore of my body and made me sweat all over. Thank goodness I wore a t-shirt that day! It was hard to move around, but I still got everything that I wanted! Everything was so interesting!

One experience that I will not forget is going to the bathroom.

See, the problem was that there was a long mirror in the room that was marked as 'boy'. All the cosplayers (mainly girls) went there to fix their costumes. This led to many men pausing at the door to the men's bathroom staring in wonder at the many girls that were primping. A lot of boys double checked the bathroom sign to make sure that it was actually the boy's bathroom. Us girls in the line for the girl's bathroom snickered at them. Eventually, the guys smartened up and just marched in past the girls to get to the place where the urinals were located. (Could the girls at the mirror see the guys taking a twinkle? I don't know.)

Oh man, I think I'm starting to become obsessed with PrussiaxGermany. The people are just so awesome! (Gilbo: my five meters are awe-- Ludwig: It's not five meters Gilbo: that's not the face you made when you saw it!)

This was THE BEST doujinshi I bought that day! Honestly, the way Prussia acted in it just made me feel all warm and gooey on the inside (Gil: It doesn't matter what it is as long as West likes it!). I 'awwed' because Gilbert was so protective and brotherly (Ludwig was sick). I <3 it.

No offense to anyone who sold USxUK stuff at CP5, but the USxUK doujinshis were less impressive than the PrussiaxGermany ones.
This was a rare gem though:

That art was awesome, and all the pages were colored (OMFG!)! It was a little too bad that the story was rather short... but the art was really cute!

Main plot:
US: Argh! It's my birthday, but England isn't here!
*page: England getting drunk*
US: That's it! I'm gonna go and find him!
*runs off*
US: England!
*England: pounces on US*
US: What the hell?
*England: gets naked*
US: What the hell?
*England: passes out*

It was funny because of drunk!England and inlovebutstilldumb!America

I only bought 1 RussiaxChina doujinshi this time:

And it was not the best RuXCN that I have ever seen...

ARGH! There was a bunch of restricted (18+) stuff that I couldn't buy! And the art was pretty, too! >3< Oh well, I guess it was for the best. My parents would totally kill me if they ever saw porn in my drawers (though I have, like, three books already. Shh, don't tell them!).

So yeah, CP5 was awesome. I'm waiting for the next doujinshi convention in Shanghai!

*sigh* Now back to studying for midterms
